Seattle's Office of Planning & Community Development (OPCD) was established by Mayor Murray "to coordinate planning and implementation to build thriving and equitable communities," and to undertake the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI). This initiative seeks to achieve our vision for "a diverse city where all people are able to achieve their full potential, regardless of race or means."
The City of Seattle Equitable Development Initiative Fund was established by the Mayor and City Council in late 2016 to provide resources to communities that are at risk of displacement as Seattle grows. In particular, the EDI is intended to stabilize and anchor communities through programs and physical developments. Specific goals of the Equitable Development Initiative include:
* Advancing economic mobility and opportunity
* Preventing residential, commercial, and cultural displacement
* Building on local cultural assets
* Promoting transportation mobility and connectivity
* Developing healthy and safe neighborhoods
* Supporting a community-based race and social equity leadership team
To support the success of this initiative, OPCD is looking for an EDI Advisor, who will be responsible for coordinating the EDI Fund Investments and the Equitable Development Financial Strategy Plan. Under the supervision of the Equitable Strategies Manager, you will coordinate the design and implementation of the EDI grant program, including: creating a fund application process; coordinating the review of applications (including funding information); providing oversight of the contracting and funding processes; and regular reporting and monitoring of program outcomes. In this role, you will coordinate with City of Seattle Departments, other government entities, community advisory committees, and other partners.
