Magnuson Nature Programs is dedicated to bringing quality nature education to children, adults, and families through hands-on, experiential learning in the diverse natural areas, ecosystems, and cultivated gardens inside Warren G. Magnuson Park. The program is sponsored by Magnuson Community Center and the Associated Recreation Council, a non-profit partner with Seattle Parks & Recreation. In 2017, it will also include teaching two programs that are funded by a grant from the King Conservation District:
*Free field trips for 2nd and 3rd grade students from Seattle Public Elementary Schools that have a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced-fee lunch
*Free family nature walks for low-income residents of the Solid Ground housing inside Magnuson Park
The Magnuson Nature Programs Environmental Assistant Director is a part-time, seasonal position that will coordinate and carry out environmental education programs for children, families, and seniors of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Programs include school field trips, nature camps during summer and other school breaks, public nature walks, special events, and other programs that promote environmental stewardship.
